Iron Acton Solar & Bess Substation

The Iron Acton site is based in Bristol and is a 140MW Large Scale Solar and Battery Storage Development. Our Client secured a connection at Iron Acton 132kV Substation to facilitate the connection of the Solar Photovoltaic and Battery Storage assets to the National Grid Electricity Transmission System.

ICS were the nominated Principal Contractor to conduct the Design, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning of the following: –
Section A: National Grid User Bay at the Iron Acton 275/132kV Substation.

Section B: A 140MVA Primary Substation, including Primary Plant and Transformer, Civil Engineering Works, a 33kV GIS Containerised Substation with Protection & Metering and 132kV Cable Trenching and Installation Works.

Equipment & Services

  • Undertaking Principal Contractor Role, CDM Development, Site Compound & Site Management

  • Design, Procurement, Installation & Commissioning of a NEW 132kV User Bay, including DID & DCAR, Civils, Type Registered Protection & Portable Relay Room, Primary & Secondary Plant

  • Design, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning of Primary & Secondary Plant & Equipment, Fit Out and Installation of 33kV GIS Containerised Substation
